Do I need a special insert?

These screw into standard glue-in aluminum inserts with a 10-32 thread — the most common hunting-arrow setup. If your arrows already take screw-in broadheads, these fit.

Can I leave them screwed in long-term?

Yes. Finger-tight is enough; the vibration of shooting keeps them seated. Thread locker is optional for heavy hunting use.

Will the black finish chip?

The zinc plating is tough and resists corrosion. Minor cosmetic wear after thousands of shots is normal but won't affect function.
